Advent Changes 2021 - Thomas

 

In our Catholic faith, we have certain events and the event that is coming up in Advent, which means catholic people are preparing for the coming of Jesus.

When it's Winter it is cold when it's Spring the plants bloom and birds are flying around. Went it is Advent we prepare for the coming of baby Jesus by putting up our Christmas trees and all that stuff.

Novel Study (Significance of "The Tree")

 I Survived The Japanese Tsunami.

I have analyzed a book called I survived the Japanese Tsunami and found out that trees on each page actually represent something in the book.

What I did today for Technolygy.

So we (Me and Jabez) were sent a Binary Sheet with numbers all over the place. The numbers on the very left were the numbers we had to make up using 1 and 0. In each row, there is a number on top of it, and if you add 1 to it one of the rows the red numbers on the right would change. For example, if you put a 1 in 6 the red numbers will change to 6.

Basically today we learned how to use a Binary Number System Chart.

Today I got two certificates because of my attendance and creative writing, I believe that lockdown is our only choice because we only have 1 term left which is term 4, and that encourages me to do the most learning I can, as you can see it paid off and I got two certificates.

7 Sacrements

During the lockdown, we are looking at the 7 Sacraments which are, Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Marriage, Holy Orders, and the Eucharist. I made a google drawing showing what happens in each sacrament.

Last week I got 70% on stage 7, and this week I got 77% on stage 7. I got 7% more than last week but I still need to practice to get 100%.

       My group decided to explore more about the "Matai Tree" because we want to find out what else the matai tree is used for, we already know it is used for timber and flooring for our houses but we want to know what else it is used for.

Last week I got 45% on protect, and today I got 47%.

It shows that I improved a little bit but a little bit isn't enough, I need to practice more to at least get 50% next time. 

Birds are Everywhere (Last Day Of Tech)

 Today IN science tech, I and my group presented this google slide and came 1st in our competition, Dereon and Nasili got a wrist band and I got a Dinosaur egg.

What I have Learned So Far

At School we have been learning about, plants, sand dunes, and mangroves.

The main thing I have learned about the mangroves was that the roots that live inside of the mangroves breathe using oxygen because the roots don't like the sea water. I have also learned about plants and the main bush we learned was the harakeke or flax plant, we were told to never cut the harakeke in the center always on the sides before the plant dies.

Here is my self-portrait art. First I sketched my face using a pencil on a white piece of paper, we had to use a mirror to look at ourselves, after that we got given coloured paper to stick on our sketch so we can have some colour on our portrait. Lastly, we took off the paper and our art was full of colour.

Here is my storyboard drawing, there are four main parts and those 4 main parts are when Jesus went to the gathering of his disciples, when Jesus showed the disciples his hands, and when Thomas doubted that Jesus was there but he actually was at the gathering.

Here is a storyboard of "The Journey to Emmaus", after the death of Jesus 2 disciples got frightened and ran to Emmaus, until a stranger walked up to them and started to talk about Jesus, it was getting dark so they invited this stranger to their home when they were about to eat they saw that the stranger was blessing the food then they both realized it was Jesus, but when they turned around he disaperd.

Holy Week (Station 8)

The 8th station is when Jesus arrived on cavalry and was crucified with two other people. When Jesus died on the cross the grown started to shake, everyone was very scared and just realized that they made a very big mistake. The symbol for station 8 is the cross because Jesus died on the cross. I felt very sad when Jesus died, this station reminds me to never assume things so quickly cause everyone thought Jesus was guilty but when he died everybody saw that they made a mistake.

The Story Of Rahituakahina Paragraph 4 - 6

 The Story of Rahituakahina (Paragraph 4 -6) 

Today 19/3/2021 I read "The Rahituakahina".

In paragraph 1 it talks about how Rahi found his Manu Tangata (A very large kite) and that it can carry a person while it floats upon the sky. Rahi packed flax bagged full of neutrons moa eggs for his journey to rescue his precious wife. 

Rahi called upon the God of wind to assist him on his journey, the God of wind heard his request and blew him high into the sky making him fly through the forest looking for the Patupaiarehe

Rahi spotted him and glided down into the forest and followed him until the Patupaiarehe cast a spell and a second sun appeared, the second sun made the air so hot that Rahis kite burned and he crashes landed onto the forest. 

Before Rahi crashed into the ground luckily he saw a giant bird's nest and landed safely inside. Rahi found some baby chicks that live inside of the giant nest he landed in, he opened his flask back and gave the bird the moa egg to eat.

In week 3 at technology, we had to make paper airplanes to see whose paper airplane would fly the furthest, the furthest my plane flew was 3.8m but it still wasn't enough to beat every other person's planes, we were basically doing arow dynamics, and this type of experiment is called physics.

School is very important, why? it’s because when you learn at school, you can use that knowledge and start a career using your learning you’ve learned at school.

Learning is also important because you can learn different languages, so when you pretend you just came from overseas and you don’t understand English, you can go to school and learn how to speak English fluently and properly.

The most important thing about schooling is when you grow up and have children you can teach them some of your knowledge.

An Admireable Person

Explanation Writing - An Admirable Person.

An admirable person is someone who maybe inspires you or encourages you to do

things you don't normally do, your admirable person can also be someone that is your idol or role model. 

My admirable person is my Mum, why?; because she always reminds me to do my home learning and

revise after school, if she wasn't there to remind me to revise and do my home learning

I would be failing and getting into trouble for not studying and doing my homework.

She is also a very good cook, and when she makes me meals that encourage

me to make delicious meals for myself and others like she does. 

My Mum is a very fluent Tongan speaker, and she inspires me to

learn and understand one of my main languages.

Last but not least she is a kind and caring person when I am feeling

stressed when I am doing home learning she is the first person to ask me if I am alright,

she always manages to put a smile on my face when I am feeling down.

My Mum is someone who I've always looked up

to when it comes to doing everything,

she is a good role model and influence to me.

I wanna be a responsible and caring person just like she is.
